Why Are Gas Prices Rising, You Ask

Does the title sound strange to you? Of course it should. A couple of months ago we wouldn't have batted an eye at it but we would have grumbled a little. Personally I think that should speak a little about the improving economy and gas situation. If we aren't complaining about the rising gas prices then at least they are stabilizing. Yes, they should be lower and yes they should be dropping instead of stabilizing but at least we're not asking, "Why are gas prices rising?" Now that they have leveled off maybe we can expect to see some prices begin to fall.

Rising Gas Furnace Prices

With the rising price of gasoline, other natural resources have been affected as well. The price of simple natural gas has seen a slight increase over the past year and due to it gas furnace prices have risen. This has created a slight conundrum with the coming winter season. Some east coast residents use a gas furnace. With the rising prices, some folks have had to decide on whether to buy a new furnace or hope that the old one will make through another cold winter. By subscribing to government programs the gas situation has added more weight to the crisis.

When Can We Say Goodbye to Historic Gas Prices?

I'm not sure about your opinions but I'm tired of seeing so many high gas prices on the corners. It has been a long time since we have seen anything lower than $2 for a gallon. I wonder if selling gas by the half gallon will make us feel better; just so we can see numbers on the signs that reflect close to what it should be? That comparison comes from milk being close to the same price as gas. You begin to wonder if stations started marketing gas differently would they increase their sales; because it's not really beneficial to drive to one gas station over another.

Worldwide Gas Prices are Dropping

Most people are seeing smaller gas prices and it's no surprise that worldwide gas prices are reflecting the same decrease. As summer ends and the Olympic Games are over the world has less of a demand for gas. Prices in Europe have dropped by a small amount and the United States is still waiting for a larger drop than it has seen. Countries like Norway and Finland have some of the highest prices most likely because there are fewer drivers than some countries. However even Norway and Finland have seen recent gas prices shrink slowly during the end of summer.

Looking for the Cheapest Gas Prices in my Area

Most of the time I'll be that person that looks for the cheapest gas prices in my area. I hate the idea of driving around and wasting gas but it just happens to be a habit for most people that want the lowest cost of regular purchases. The best way to find the cheapest gas is to look online before you fill up or always be on the look-out when you drive to and from work. However I have felt like it just doesn't matter much when the gas prices are close to liquor prices.

Historical Gas Prices Each Year

With the cost of gas these days of course we're seeing historical gas prices! Each year for the past couple of years it appears that it has been climbing. Some people might be aware that OPEC has been operating at over 90% capacity for a while now. That's good. Yet, did you know that OPEC puts restrictions on the capacity of oil they will pump? So OPEC may be pumping at full capacity however they could increase that capacity if they wanted to. Prices have risen over the course of several years because OPEC started using this trick around the end of the last decade to control the price of gas.

Problems of Local Gas Prices

Local gas prices these last couple of months have caused a lot of problems; or at least changes in our own society. Some state governments have changed the length of work weeks in order to conserve gas. Companies have been going under because their basic means of transportation has become their biggest cost. Let's not forget the strain it has been causing the average American worker. Can you imagine spending a quarter of your income on gasoline alone? I guess it does do some good for the environment and public transportation is utilized more than ever; if that is worth all the harm caused.
